The Wiwala Choir was a group of junior high and high school students who were members of Camp Fire Boys and Girls in the Sacramento-Yolo Council. The choir existed for many years under the direction and love of Marianne Bird.
They sang good music at community events, senior centers, nursing homes, church events, and of course, Camp Fire meetings. Every 4 or 5 years they recorded an album of their favorite songs. No money was made from the choir appearances or from the albums. It was an opportunity for a great mentor and adult volunteers to teach the beauty and love of music to some teenagers. And, it was fun.
I am indeed grateful, for them allowing one tone deaf teenager to be a part of something so beautiful. It is with this gratitude, that I bring you the music of the Wiwala Choir converted to mp3 files. Since my children have enjoyed these songs so much, it is my hope that others will as well.
Okay, so after writing this I realized I can't upload mp3 files to the blog.
Leave a comment and I'll e-mail the files to you.
